Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients’ physical condition and needs using evidence-based assessment techniques
- Design and implement individualized, goal-oriented treatment plans to restore function
- Continuously assess patient progress and adjust plans to ensure the best outcomes
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and medical records
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care
- Supervise the clinical activities of P.T. assistants and mentor at least one affiliating student annually
- Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care
- Engage in community outreach and program development to expand service impact
Qualifications
- State of Vermont physical therapy license required (temporary license acceptable on entry)
- CPR certification required
- Graduate of an accredited P.T. program preferred
- Previous acute care experience preferred; entry-level candidates are welcome to apply
- At least two recent supervisory references are required
- Comfort supervising P.T. assistants and teaching or mentoring students
Education
- Graduate of accredited P.T. program (preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in patient evaluation and clinical reasoning for acute care settings
- Proficient in developing and implementing treatment plans and therapeutic interventions
- Strong clinical documentation and electronic charting abilities
- Experience collaborating in interdisciplinary teams and communicating with providers
- Supervisory and mentorship skills for guiding assistants and students
- Familiarity with quality improvement processes and community program development
