Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead unit operations during your shift by creating and adjusting nursing assignments based on acuity, admissions and discharges
- Oversee and delegate patient care across LPNs, RNs and LNAs while maintaining high standards of safety and quality
- Provide compassionate clinical care and occasionally manage a small patient assignment (1–3 patients)
- Mentor, precept and nurture new nurses to support their professional growth from novice to confident clinician
- Coordinate breaks, monitor staffing flow and escalate concerns to nurse management when needed
- Act as the primary resource/house supervisor on off shifts, keeping teams informed about bed availability and coordinating transfers
- Monitor and coach for timely, accurate clinical documentation and charting compliance
- Communicate proactively with pharmacy, lab, radiology and other departments to follow up on tests and referrals
Qualifications
- Active New Hampshire RN license required at time of submission (Compact allowed)
- Valid BLS certification required (facility will not pend certs)
- 3–5 years of relevant clinical nursing experience required
- Charge RN experience preferred; supervisory or lead experience is a plus
- One signed supervisory reference from within the past two years required
- Current work history, skills checklist (within 1 year) and uploaded license/certification documents required
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient assessment and clinical decision-making in emergency/acute care settings
- Care coordination, bed management and transfer facilitation
- Strong leadership, delegation and staff supervision skills
- Clinical documentation accuracy and chart review practices
- Interdepartmental communication and collaboration (pharmacy, lab, radiology, etc.)
- Mentoring and precepting new nurses to promote clinical growth
- Ability to manage unit flow, admissions, discharges and changing acuity
