Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide professional perioperative nursing care to surgical patients, ensuring safety and high-quality outcomes
- Circulate in the OR to guarantee supplies, equipment, and instrumentation are available and functioning
- Accurately document the surgical process, team members, and any complications for patient records and legal purposes
- Perform patient assessment and continuous monitoring before, during, and after procedures
- Communicate effectively with the surgical team to promote seamless teamwork and patient safety
- Respond to intraoperative emergencies and support rapid, coordinated interventions
- Maintain sterile technique and uphold infection prevention standards throughout surgical procedures
- Support patient transitions through PACU/Phase I recovery as needed and collaborate on care plans
Qualifications
- Current New Hampshire RN license (NH or Compact license allowed; NH/Compact must be in-hand at upload)
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (required)
- Minimum 2 years current hospital OR experience, including ENDO (required)
- OR circulating experience with ortho (total hip/total knee), general surgery, podiatry, ENT, ENDO (required)
- Current ACLS, BLS (AHA), and PALS (AHA) certifications (required)
- Skills in central line care, IV starts, ventilator and BiPAP experience (required)
- Familiarity with computer applications and willingness to learn new software (required)
- Scrub and PACU/Phase I recovery experience preferred
Education
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Perioperative nursing and circulating nurse duties
- Surgical documentation and accurate charting practices
- Sterile technique and infection control in the OR
- Patient assessment, monitoring, and perioperative safety
- Experience across orthopedic, general surgery, podiatry, ENT and ENDO cases
- Central line management, IV starts, ventilator and BiPAP operation
- Strong team communication and ability to coordinate with multi-disciplinary staff
- Technical aptitude with healthcare computer applications and documentation systems
