Roles & Responsibilities

• Continuously monitor patient vital signs and level of consciousness during post-anesthesia recovery
• Maintain and manage a patent airway, intervening quickly for obstructions or respiratory distress
• Administer medications and fluids for symptom and pain control, keeping patients comfortable and stable
• Assess surgical sites for bleeding or complications and initiate interventions when needed
• Document patient status and care accurately and communicate changes clearly to surgeons and anesthesiologists
• Recognize adverse reactions to anesthesia or surgery and activate emergency protocols when required

Qualifications

• Active Michigan RN license (must be active at time of submission)
• Minimum 2 years of PACU experience (required)
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• Comfort working in a fast-paced post-anesthesia care environment and collaborating with surgical teams

Knowledge & Skills

• Post-Anesthesia Care and post-operative assessment expertise
• Patient monitoring and rapid assessment of vital signs
• Airway management and basic respiratory interventions
• Medication administration and symptom/pain management
• Accurate documentation practices and clear clinical communication
• Ability to recognize and respond to anesthesia-related complications
