Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts: 6:30 AM - 6:30 PM or 6:30 PM - 6:30 AM; every other weekend required

Hours per Week: 48

Candidate Pay Rate: $64 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Monitor and assess patients in a 40-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Administer and titrate IV drips including Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and insulin
Provide comprehensive care for cardiac, vascular, renal, stroke, and sepsis patients
Interpret telemetry strips and respond to rhythm changes
Collaborate with charge nurse and patient care techs to ensure safe staffing ratios
Float to MedSurg or ICU to care for PCU-acuity patients as needed

Qualifications

Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
Competent in arterial line management
Minimum 1 year of PCU or step-down experience preferred
Valid driver's license (to verify radius rule)
Ability to pass an open-book skills exam during orientation with 90% or higher
Flexible team player willing to adapt to diverse patient populations

Knowledge & Skills

Proficiency in titrating cardiac drips and interpreting telemetry
Knowledge of common PCU diagnoses: cardiac med/surg, dialysis, vascular, respiratory, stroke
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Comfortable using overhead lifts, vein finders, and bladder scanners
Cultural sensitivity for serving Hispanic and Somalian populations
