Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage post-anesthesia patients with vigilance and compassion, ensuring safe recovery from anesthesia
• Assess patient status frequently and intervene promptly for changes in condition
• Administer medications, manage pain control, and implement post-op orders per protocol
• Perform airway and hemodynamic monitoring, escalating care when needed
• Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate smooth handoffs
• Provide clear, supportive education to patients and families about recovery expectations and discharge instructions
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and complete required Trinity specialty competency checks

Qualifications

• Current RN license (state verification required)
• PACU experience or demonstrated post-anesthesia care competence (preferred)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Completion of Trinity Skills Checklist and Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing
• Compliance with required immunizations, fit testing, drug screen, and physical/health statement

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong post-anesthesia assessment skills and familiarity with PACU protocols
• Airway management and basic hemodynamic monitoring
• Pain management and medication administration in the post-op setting
• Excellent communication and teamwork for effective patient handoffs
• Accurate clinical documentation and use of electronic health records
• Ability to prioritize and respond quickly in a fast-paced recovery environment
