Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality PCU nursing care for neuroscience and med-surg patients on a 36-bed unit
• Perform procedures such as IV starts and Foley insertions safely and competently
• Utilize Cerner EMR for accurate documentation and handoffs
• Monitor patients, interpret clinical data, and escalate changes in condition promptly
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement patient-centered care plans
• Maintain professional certifications and participate in unit orientation and training

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state licensure or compact as required)
• Minimum 2+ years of clinical nursing experience (PCU, med-surg or neuro experience preferred)
• Required certifications: ACLS and NIH
• Comfortable working with standard med-surg equipment and Cerner EMR
• Strong clinical judgment, ability to manage patient ratios up to 5:1 (stretch as noted)
• Outgoing, self-motivated attitude with good teamwork and communication skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Neurosciences/PCU clinical knowledge and post-op neuro monitoring
• IV start and Foley insertion proficiency
• Experience with Cerner electronic medical records
• Med-Surg nursing fundamentals and patient assessment
• Ability to manage patient assignments and prioritize tasks on busy shifts
• Familiarity with ACLS protocols and NIH stroke assessment
