Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and treat patients across acute care settings with clear, patient-centered plans
• Perform skilled occupational therapy interventions for ortho, neuro, trauma and post-surgical patients
• Conduct and document bedside swallow studies and coordinate video swallowing evaluations when needed
• Collaborate with PT, Speech, nursing and rehab aides to ensure safe, coordinated care and smooth patient flow
• Use Cerner PowerChart for accurate charting, care plans and communication
• Provide unit coverage and float to assigned areas as needed, adapting to variable caseloads
• Participate in floor-specific orientation and complete required departmental training

Qualifications

• NBCOT certification required (must have passed the NBCOT exam)
• Active State Occupational Therapy license for California
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• Minimum 1 year of clinical OT experience required; 2 years preferred per requisition
• Travel experience preferred and trauma experience preferred
• Experience with inpatient and/or outpatient settings and rehabilitation a plus

Education

• Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy program (OTD/MSOT) preferred
• NBCOT certification required
• Active California OT license required

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in inpatient and outpatient occupational therapy and rehabilitation practices
• Experience with patient assessment, treatment planning and documentation
• Competence with Cerner PowerChart or similar EMR systems
• Knowledge of swallowing evaluations, including bedside and video swallowing studies
• Comfort working with diverse diagnoses: ortho, neuro, trauma, post-surgical and medically complex patients
• Ability to supervise and collaborate with rehab aides, OTAs and interdisciplinary teams
