Roles & Responsibilities

Lead and manage the surgical services team to deliver safe, efficient perioperative care.
Supervise circulating RNs and ancillary staff, delegating duties and maintaining high standards of operations.
Identify operational and clinical problems in the surgical department and implement both short-term fixes and long-term solutions.
Maintain composure and provide decisive leadership during true emergencies and high-pressure situations.
Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiology, PACU, and other departments to ensure smooth patient flow and excellent patient outcomes.
Oversee patient care standards, ensuring compliance with policies, licensing, and regulatory requirements.
Coach, mentor, and develop staff performance; promote a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork.

Qualifications

Current California RN license required
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required
Bachelor's degree or equivalent required
Minimum of 5 years RN experience, including at least 2 years as a circulating RN in surgery
Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS required
CNOR preferred
One year post-anesthesia care experience preferred
Previous leadership, supervisory, or management experience preferred
Strong written and oral English skills

Education

Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing
Bachelor's degree or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

Perioperative and surgical nursing expertise
Patient care and post-anesthesia care understanding
Leadership, delegation, and team supervision skills
Problem identification and solution implementation in a clinical setting
Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond to emergencies
Strong communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
Physical ability to sit/stand/walk for several hours and lift up to 35 pounds as needed
