Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide direct, hands-on nursing care to medical/surgical and critically ill patients from admission through discharge
- Operate and manage advanced medical equipment including ventilators, multiple IV pumps, arterial (A-lines) and central lines, and chest tubes
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and implement evidence-based nursing interventions with minimal supervision
- Act as a clinical leader on the unit: coordinate care, direct RN/LPN/CNA and support staff, and communicate with providers and nurse leadership
- Assist with and deliver precepting and clinical leadership to orient and mentor new staff
- Develop and execute discharge planning to ensure safe transitions of care
Qualifications
- Current Montana Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- BLS and ACLS required
- Practice experience in an advanced medical/surgical unit and recent critical care nursing experience required
- PALS, EPNC, TNCC certifications preferred
Education
- Degree from an accredited Nursing Program
Knowledge & Skills
- Advanced nursing principles and procedures
- Skilled in ventilator management and ventilation support
- Competent with arterial (A-line), central line and invasive line care
- Chest tube management and monitoring
- Proficient with multiple IV pump operation and medication administration
- Strong patient assessment, clinical judgment, and critical thinking
- Experience with discharge planning and coordinating multidisciplinary care
- Ability to lead, teach, and precept clinical staff
