Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM NOC; must be available for 2-3 day shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) for orientation; schedule includes weekends (must work 4 weekend shifts per schedule — Friday & Saturday for nightshift) and holidays as needed. No set schedules.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform remote surveillance of cardio-pulmonary rhythms for multiple locations via a central monitoring station
• Recognize, record and report potentially dangerous rhythm changes and arrhythmias following established protocols
• Communicate promptly and clearly with local RN staff and follow proper escalation channels
• Operate and troubleshoot monitoring equipment including GE and Ascom systems and document in Cerner
• Follow command center policies and established procedures to protect patient safety
• Contribute to department metrics and continuous improvement efforts focused on patient outcomes
• Support cross-training initiatives and step into roles like Virtual Patient Companion when needed

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited clinical program that includes EKG interpretation
• BLS certification required
• Must pass the Advanced Dysrhythmia exam prior to accepting the assignment (lethal rhythms are pass/fail; one attempt)
• Minimum 2 years of recent related work experience (3 years preferred)
• Ability to monitor high patient volumes (typical ratios 45-60 patients virtually)
• Must be able to commit to assignment rules (no concurrent assignments) and adhere to facility policies such as the strict no cell phone policy

Education

• Graduation from an accredited clinical program including EKG interpretation

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition
• EKG interpretation and arrhythmia recognition (advanced dysrhythmia competency)
• Remote patient surveillance and high-volume monitoring
• Experience with GE and Ascom monitoring equipment
• Charting and documentation in Cerner
• Clear clinical communication with RNs and escalation of urgent events
• Ability to follow strict protocols and procedures in a centralized monitoring environment
