Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, evidence-based critical care to ICU patients, including post-CABG and transplant support
• Perform hemodynamic monitoring and interpret data to guide timely interventions
• Manage ventilated patients and troubleshoot ventilator needs collaboratively with RTs and physicians
• Administer advanced life support and maintain ACLS/BLS readiness at the bedside
• Document patient care accurately in the Meditech system and complete bedside shift reports
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (physicians, respiratory therapy, surgical teams) to optimize patient outcomes
• Support unit-specific initiatives and adhere to Magnet and Beacon-level standards of care

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license required (temporary licenses will not be accepted)
• Minimum 2+ years of ICU experience (post-licensure critical care experience preferred)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Proven experience with hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, CPR, and post-CABG care
• Comfortable working in high-acuity settings (ECMO, heart transplant, CVICU exposure a plus)
• Ability to follow unit policies including bedside shift reports and professional conduct expectations
• Willingness to float to other ICUs or PCU as needed

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing fundamentals and cardiac/critical care workflows
• Hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation
• Mechanical ventilation management and troubleshooting
• ACLS and BLS application in emergent situations
• Familiarity with Meditech or similar electronic medical records
• Strong clinical judgment, effective communication, and teamwork
• Comfort managing high-acuity patients including post-operative cardiac and transplant care
