Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality echocardiogram studies (Transthoracic 2D, M-Mode, Color-flow Doppler, Transesophageal, Exercise and pharmacologic stress echocardiography) reliably and with clinical confidence
• Conduct other cardiac diagnostics as assigned, including EKGs, Holter prep/monitoring/analysis, and cardiac stress testing to provide complete diagnostic data for physicians
• Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment (echocardiographs, stress systems, electrocardiographs, Holter monitors) to ensure accurate testing and minimize downtime
• Accurately document and process studies within the hospital information systems for correct scheduling, reporting, and charging
• Apply infection control and aseptic techniques consistently; ensure proper disinfection of equipment
• Provide age-specific care across the lifespan, including neonatal and pediatric patients, with compassion and technical skill
• Serve as a resource to physicians, nursing staff, and other hospital personnel by communicating findings and clinical observations clearly
• Precept and mentor students from contracted colleges and universities, delivering constructive clinical guidance and supervision

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Registered Cardiac Sonographer credential required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Successful completion of an echocardiography certification program and/or a minimum of 2 years hands-on echocardiography experience
• Preferred: Cardiovascular Sonography certificate and extensive hospital-based echocardiography experience
• Preferred: Experience with pediatric and neonatal echocardiography
• Comfort with hospital information systems for scheduling, processing, and charging

Education

• High School Diploma or GED (required)
• Certificate program in Cardiovascular Sonography (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in transthoracic, transesophageal, stress, and pediatric echocardiography
• Skilled in EKG acquisition, Holter setup/analysis, and cardiac stress testing
• Familiarity with hospital information systems for scheduling and charging
• Strong infection control and equipment disinfection practices
• Ability to provide age-specific care from neonatal to geriatric patients
• Experience mentoring students and providing clinical preceptorship
