Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic mammography and CT exams, including screening and diagnostic mammograms
• Support interventional procedures: stereotactic breast biopsy, breast needle localization, specimen radiography
• Operate and maintain imaging equipment and complete daily/weekly quality control
• Administer contrast and set up/run automatic injectors following age-appropriate protocols
• Practice radiation protection and sterile technique to ensure patient and staff safety
• Provide compassionate patient care across the lifespan and assist with patient transfers and venipuncture
• Transmit studies via teleradiology and maintain accurate records for regulatory compliance
• Assist with supply inventory and ordering, and participate in departmental quality assurance activities
• Rotate shifts, take on-call duties, and step into supervisory responsibilities in the absence of leadership

Qualifications

• Current ARRT in Radiography required
• BLS certification (must obtain within 45 days of start)
• Clinical competency assessment required within 3 months of hire and every three years
• Ability to perform diagnostic exams across assigned modalities (mammography, CT, general radiography, ultrasound as needed)
• Comfortable assisting in interventional procedures and using sterile technique
• Willingness to rotate modalities (Ultrasound, MRI, CT, Mammography) as needed
• Willing and able to respond to on-call calls within approximately 20 minutes
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse patient populations

Education

• Certification: ARRT (Radiography) required
• BLS from American Heart Association required (within 45 days of start)
• Clinical competency assessment per SEARHC policy (within 3 months)

Knowledge & Skills

• Mammography: screening, diagnostic, QC, specimen radiography, stereotactic biopsy
• CT: protocol adjustments, contrast administration, automatic injector use, interventional assistance
• Radiography and Sonography/Ultrasound fundamentals
• Radiation protection principles and quality assurance/quality control
• Teleradiology transmission and record maintenance
• Venipuncture and patient transfer techniques
• Sterile technique and peri-procedural support
• Inventory/supply management and basic equipment care
