Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour day shifts, 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM, schedule varies with typically every-other-weekend requirement (travelers are scheduled; limited block scheduling may be approved)

Candidate Pay Rate: $62 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality MedSurg and telemetry patient care for a diverse patient population
- Monitor and interpret telemetry with appropriate clinical awareness and escalate abnormalities
- Titrate IV drips (heparin, lidocaine, ketamine) safely according to orders and unit protocols
- Manage PCA pumps and other titratable infusions while ensuring patient comfort and safety
- Complete thorough documentation in EPIC and communicate changes in patient status to the team
- Perform hourly rounding, admissions and discharges efficiently to keep patient flow moving
- Collaborate with charge nurses, techs and interdisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated care
- Use mechanical lifts and safe patient handling techniques to reduce injury risk
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for submission in the state of practice
- Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (MedSurg / Telemetry preferred)
- BLS (AHA) certification required at time of submission; ACLS preferred
- Comfortable with 12-hour shifts and the pace of an acute care MedSurg/Tele unit
- Demonstrated ability to titrate drips and manage PCA pumps safely
- Experience charting in EPIC or similar electronic health record systems
- Valid driver’s license required for radius verification and submittal
- Willingness to pass a skills pass/fail exam during orientation with a 90% requirement
- Must not be employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-associated facility (including CHI or Dignity)
Education
- Active RN license required for submission; no specific degree requirement specified
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong MedSurg and telemetry nursing knowledge, including common diagnoses like COPD, pneumonia, GI bleed and ortho trauma
- Tele/monitoring interpretation awareness and ability to act on monitor alerts
- IV medication titration and infusion pump management
- Comfortable with acute care nurse:patient ratios (typically 1:5-6)
- Cultural competency serving Spanish, Karen and Burmese patient populations
- Familiarity with safe patient handling and mechanical lifts
- Excellent communication, triage and prioritization skills in a busy unit
