Physical Therapist Assistant - Long Term Care
Location: Kerrville, TX
Start Date: 04-13-2026
End Date: 07-13-2026
Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (Day shift; 8-hour days — start time is flexible and should be coordinated with the Director of Rehab; typical start window between 6:00 AM and 10:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $40 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver evidence-based rehabilitative and skilled treatment interventions under PT supervision
- Administer therapeutic exercises, manual techniques, ambulation training and assistive device use
- Assess patient progress and communicate changes to the supervising Physical Therapist
- Accurately document treatments, regulatory requirements and treatment minutes in the electronic record
- Report treatment effectiveness and contribute to discharge planning with your PT
- Provide patient, family and caregiver education and counseling to support recovery and function
- Coordinate with the team to obtain necessary DME and supplies when clinically required
- Participate in care conferences, utilization review and facility meetings to advocate for your patients
- Support and supervise students during clinical experiences under PT guidance
- Attend facility and company-required trainings, in-services, and conferences
Qualifications
- Active PTA license — Texas state licensure required (Compact allowed as noted)
- Minimum 1+ years of PTA experience — LTC or rehab experience required
- Proven experience with electronic documentation and accurate treatment minute recording
- Comfort working under the direction of a supervising Physical Therapist and collaborating with care teams
- Ability to participate in care conferences, utilization review, and productivity expectations for therapy staff
- References, current resume/work history, skills checklist (completed within 1 year), license verification and required certifications
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient care and rehabilitation techniques for long-term care populations
- Therapeutic exercise selection, manual techniques and safe ambulation training
- Electronic health record documentation and regulatory compliance
- Clear, timely communication with supervising PT and interdisciplinary team
- Familiarity with Medicare A/B and managed care workflows and treatment time expectations
- Group therapy planning and implementation to support productivity and resident outcomes
- DME coordination and identifying necessary assistive devices
- Ability to mentor students and contribute to a learning culture
