Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents, supporting dignity and independence
• Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
• Safely transfer and position residents, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Monitor residents’ condition and promptly report changes to nursing staff to ensure timely care
• Document care delivered and resident responses accurately and professionally
• Support mealtime assistance and ensure residents receive appropriate nutrition and hydration
• Build trusting relationships with residents and families by communicating clearly and kindly

Qualifications

• GNA certification (required) — you know the role and can hit the ground running
• Current BLS/CPR certification preferred or willing to obtain
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience working with geriatric populations is a plus
• Comfortable with resident transfers, ADL assistance, and basic clinical documentation
• Strong communication skills and a patient, empathetic approach

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of geriatric care best practices and safety techniques
• Ability to assist with ADLs and mobility safely and respectfully
• Basic infection control practices and hand hygiene
• Good observation skills and ability to report changes in resident condition
• Team collaboration and clear communication with nursing staff and families
