Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on personal care to residents with dignity and respect
• Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility support
• Monitor resident conditions and report changes to nursing staff promptly
• Support mealtime assistance, feeding, and hydration needs
• Create meaningful connections through conversation, engagement, and emotional support
• Maintain accurate documentation of care and follow facility protocols to ensure safety

Qualifications

• Certified Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) or equivalent state certification
• Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Valid, active state certification/license for Maryland (or ability to obtain)
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatrics is preferred
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate bedside manner
• Ability to follow care plans and work collaboratively with nursing teams

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred; completion of an accredited GNA program required

Knowledge & Skills

• Familiarity with geriatric care principles and resident-centered approaches
• Skilled in safe resident transfers and mobility assistance
• Good observational skills to recognize changes in condition
• Basic charting and documentation abilities
• Team-oriented, dependable, and calm under pressure
