Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living, providing hands-on, compassionate care
• Take and record vital signs and report any changes promptly to the nursing team
• Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper techniques to protect residents and yourself
• Help with meal assistance and observe dietary needs/preferences
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care and resident interactions
• Follow infection control practices and facility safety procedures consistently
• Build trusting relationships with residents and families to enhance quality of life
• Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to deliver person-centered care

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) — required
• Valid state-required healthcare aide certification or licensure as applicable
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Up-to-date immunizations and negative TB screening as required by facility
• Background check and drug screen clearance
• Compassionate attitude, strong communication skills, and ability to work in a team
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an approved GNA/Geriatric Nursing Assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of ADLs (bathing, dressing, toileting) and safe transfer techniques
• Ability to take and accurately record vital signs and basic observations
• Familiarity with resident rights, dignity-centered care and confidentiality (HIPAA)
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with residents, families and staff
• Basic documentation and charting skills
• Infection control principles and safe workplace practices
