Roles & Responsibilities

• Initiate and set up dialysis treatments using Fresenius machines and T Machines with precision
• Prime the extracorporeal circuit and dialyzer, attach blood and concentrate lines, and verify machine/alarm settings
• Monitor patients closely during treatments — vital signs, ultrafiltration calculations and responses to therapy
• Troubleshoot and respond to machine alarms (arterial, venous, conductivity) to keep patients safe
• Collect blood specimens and post-treatment laboratory samples accurately and on time
• Perform infection control, isolation precautions, equipment clean-up and post-treatment access care
• Recognize and report adverse patient occurrences and changes in condition; provide patient education
• Complete quality control checks (test strips, glucose meters) and follow emergency/CPR procedures when needed

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience (Hemodialysis experience strongly preferred)
• Experience with Fresenius machines (Fresenius 2008T) required
• Epic experience required (EPIC hardstop in place)
• Oxygen therapy experience required
• Current CPR certification; BLS and BONENT CHT are preferred
• Proven skills in phlebotomy and extracorporeal circuit priming
• Ability to work the clinic’s day schedule (early mornings into afternoon/evening)

Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• Completion of a dialysis technician program or relevant clinical training preferred
• Dialysis-related certifications encouraged (BONENT CHT preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Hemodialysis procedures and chronic outpatient dialysis care
• Ultrafiltration calculation and management of anticoagulation
• Machine alarm troubleshooting and maintenance (arterial/venous/conductivity alarms)
• Priming dialyzer and extracorporeal circuit, blood return and post-dialysis care
• Quality control procedures and infection control protocols
• Phlebotomy, specimen collection and accurate documentation in Epic
• Patient education, vital sign monitoring and recognition of pyrogenic reactions or orthostatic hypotension
