Physical Therapist - Acute Inpatient

Location: Bakersfield, California

Start Date: 06-15-2026

End Date: 09-14-2026

Contract Type: Contract

Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, occasionally 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM one day per week; every third weekend required

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $59 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Evaluate and treat acute inpatient patients with a variety of diagnoses including general medical, orthopedic, and neurological conditions
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to maximize functional independence
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members in Medical/Surgical, ICU, and ER settings
Document patient progress and adjust treatments as needed
Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and discharge planning

Qualifications

Current California Physical Therapy license required
BLS certification from the American Heart Association
Prior acute inpatient physical therapy experience is a must
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

Knowledge & Skills

Expertise in treating post-surgical patients (TKA, THA, spinal surgery) and general orthopedic cases
Proficiency with stroke rehabilitation (CVA) and deconditioned patients
Strong clinical reasoning and documentation skills
Comfortable working in fast-paced acute care environment
