Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the circulator and surgeon with patient care and sterile field management to ensure safe, efficient procedures
• Prepare, organize, and maintain sterile instruments and supplies before and during surgeries
• Ensure a sterile environment by following strict sterile technique and infection control practices
• Anticipate surgeon needs and provide timely surgical assisting to support positive patient outcomes
• Participate in on-call rotations, responding promptly and professionally when called
• Comply with all applicable state and federal regulations and facility policies to maintain top-quality care

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or completion of an accredited surgical technologist program is preferred
• Demonstrated experience in the operating room with sterile technique and surgical assisting
• Comfortable with on-call responsibilities: one weeknight/week and every 5th weekend
• Strong knowledge of infection control and regulatory compliance
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in high-pressure clinical environments
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain prior to start

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent clinical training
• High school diploma or GED required; additional allied health education a plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient care best practices in the perioperative setting
• Infection control and sterile technique
• Regulatory compliance for surgical services
• Familiarity with common surgical instruments and procedural workflows
• Ability to anticipate clinical needs and act proactively
• Attention to detail and strong situational awareness
