Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality orthopedic nursing care on J6 Orthopedics, caring for post-op and acute orthopedic patients
• Perform wound care, dressing changes and suture/staple removal with attention to healing and infection prevention
• Manage wound vac maintenance and removal as required for patient recovery
• Support mobility and safe transfers using lifts and assistive devices (Sara Stedy, Maxi Move, Sky lifts) to promote patient independence
• Manage Foley catheters and NG tubes safely and competently
• Document assessments and interventions accurately in Cerner EMR to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, communicate patient status, and contribute to a team-focused environment
• Advocate for patients and deliver compassionate, family-centered care

Qualifications

• Current NC Registered Nurse (RN) license
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (Med-Surg or Orthopedics preferred)
• Experience with orthopedic patients and common post-op procedures
• Comfortable using Cerner EMR
• Ability to work night shifts and every-other-weekend schedule; team-player mindset

Knowledge & Skills

• Orthopedic nursing principles and post-operative care
• Med-Surg skills applicable to complex patients
• Wound care, wound vac knowledge, and dressing change techniques
• Foley catheter and NG tube management
• Familiarity with mobility equipment and safe patient handling
• Proficient documentation in Cerner EMR
• Strong communication, adaptability, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment
