Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality critical care to post-op cardiac and CVICU patients
• Monitor hemodynamics, manage drips and titrations, and respond to changes in patient status
• Collaborate closely with physicians, perfusionists, and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate care
• Perform thorough assessments, document accurately, and communicate changes promptly
• Educate patients and families about care plans and post-operative expectations
• Participate in unit rounds and contribute to a culture of safety and continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — ability to practice in Texas required
• Minimum 1 year of CVICU or relevant critical care experience (as listed in the posting)
• Current BLS required; ACLS preferred or obtainable upon hire
• Strong clinical assessment skills and comfort with hemodynamic monitoring and vasoactive drips
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and adapt to unit protocols

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN). BSN preferred by many acute care employers.

Knowledge & Skills

• Proven CVICU/critical care nursing knowledge with focus on cardiac post-op care
• Familiarity with telemetry, invasive monitoring, and mechanical circulatory support basics
• Skilled at medication titration, ICU documentation, and escalation of care
• Excellent communication, prioritization, and teamwork skills
• Comfortable using electronic health records and following evidence-based protocols
