Roles & Responsibilities

• Scrub and assist in complex cardiac, vascular and thoracic procedures (CABG, valves, TAVR, EVAR, TEVAR, VATS, LVAD/RVAD, ECMO)
• Maintain sterile technique, perform instrument counts and manage surgical instrumentation accurately
• Collaborate closely with circulating RN, anesthesia and surgical team to ensure patient safety and smooth case flow
• Document perioperative care in the EMR (Meditech) and complete required documentation promptly
• Respond reliably to call notifications (30-minute callback expectation) and provide dependable bedside support
• Contribute to a positive team environment by mentoring travelers and supporting cross-coverage when needed

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or OR technologist credential required
• Minimum 2 years of recent OR experience with proven Cardiac, Vascular and Thoracic exposure
• Proven ability to scrub cardiac and vascular cases (preferred)
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR is a plus
• Punctual, flexible, and able to meet a 30-minute callback requirement
• Comfortable working in a high-acuity CVOR setting and collaborating on call shifts

Education

• Surgical Technologist certification (CST) required
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional perioperative education preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of cardiac and vascular surgical procedures and instrumentation
• Proficient in sterile technique and OR safety protocols
• Experience with open heart procedures and advanced devices (LVAD, ECMO) preferred
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR for perioperative documentation
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in a small, tight-knit unit
• Ability to adapt to varied case types and provide calm, efficient support under pressure
