Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for diagnostic nuclear medicine studies and ensure their comfort and safety throughout procedures.
• Operate and troubleshoot imaging equipment (gamma camera, dose calibrator, survey meters, well counter, thyroid uptake probe) to deliver high-quality diagnostic scans.
• Administer radiopharmaceuticals following safety protocols and monitor radiation safety procedures for patients and staff.
• Maintain accurate procedural and dosing documentation and communicate findings and concerns clearly with radiologists and physicians.
• Participate in teaching and instructional activities to support colleagues and trainees while helping improve department practice.
• Keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with PPE and radiation safety requirements; report and follow up on equipment issues.

Qualifications

• Current Hawai'i license as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (required).
• Current BLS/HCP certification (required).
• One (1) year of Nuclear Medicine experience preferred; new graduates who meet licensure/certification requirements are welcome.
• Demonstrated knowledge of nuclear medicine physics, radiopharmaceutical administration, and radiation safety protocols.
• Strong critical thinking and communication skills; ability to collaborate with radiologists and physicians.
• Comfortable working in a rural community hospital and functioning independently when needed.

Education

• Licensure/certification required: Current Hawai'i Nuclear Medicine Technologist license
• Certification required: Current BLS/HCP
