Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled therapeutic interventions under the direction of the treating PT to help patients regain mobility and independence
- Assist with gait training, transfers, functional mobility and therapeutic exercise programs
- Document patient progress and treatment plans accurately and timely in the patient record
- Collaborate with PTs, nurses and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate high-quality care
- Educate patients and families on home exercise programs, safety strategies and recovery expectations
- Maintain a safe, clean environment and ensure equipment is properly used and maintained
- Advocate for patients' needs and contribute to measurable outcomes in a fast-paced rehab setting
Qualifications
- Current, unrestricted PTA license in North Carolina or eligibility to obtain one prior to start
- Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from a recognized organization (or willingness to obtain)
- Comfortable working within an interdisciplinary rehab team and adapting to varied patient needs
- Reliable, professional, and able to work a seven-day coverage schedule as assigned
Education
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in therapeutic exercise, gait training, transfers and manual techniques
- Familiarity with rehab equipment and safe patient handling principles
- Strong clinical documentation and time management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication with patients, families and staff
- Ability to prioritize caseloads and contribute to goal-driven care plans
