Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate and diagnose speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders using evidence-based assessments
- Develop individualized treatment plans with measurable goals that drive meaningful progress
- Provide engaging, patient-centered therapy and modify approaches based on response
- Collaborate closely with therapists, nurses, physicians, and families to support holistic care
- Document clinical findings, progress, and discharge planning accurately in the EHR
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and contribute to discharge and care transition plans
Qualifications
- Active or eligible Maryland license as a Speech-Language Pathologist (required by facility)
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (see Education section)
- ASHA CCC-SLP preferred or equivalent clinical certification
- Relevant clinical experience in rehabilitation, acute care, or outpatient settings preferred
- Current CPR/BLS certification as required by facility policies
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility immunization requirements
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (required)
- ASHA certification (CCC-SLP) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in standardized assessments and functional swallowing evaluations
- Experience with treatment planning for speech, language, cognition, and dysphagia
- Comfortable documenting in electronic health record systems and producing clear clinical notes
- Strong communication and family education skills to support carryover and outcomes
- Ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary rehab team
