Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert, family-centered nursing care to neonates in the NICU during night shifts
- Perform neonatal assessments, monitor critically ill infants, and respond to changes in condition
- Lead neonatal resuscitation (NRP) efforts when required and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team
- Administer medications and titrate therapies safely, following unit protocols and pharmacology best practices
- Accurately document care, communicate clearly with families, and support discharge planning
- Maintain readiness for emergency procedures and participate in unit competency validations and skills checks
- Mentor and support colleagues, contributing to a positive, learning-focused night team culture
Qualifications
- Active RN license with Nursys verification (state licensure required)
- NICU/Neonatal ICU experience required; ICU RN background strongly preferred
- Current BLS (AHA) certification required
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required
- DCI/BVP certification listed as required in credentialing
- Recent acute, in-hospital experience preferred
- Ability to pass facility-required health screenings and a minimum 10-panel drug screen
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN preferred)
- Active RN license required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong neonatal critical care skills and familiarity with NICU equipment and monitoring
- Proficiency in neonatal resuscitation (NRP) and basic rhythm interpretation
- Solid working knowledge of neonatal pharmacology and safe medication administration
- Excellent clinical assessment, triage, and critical thinking abilities during high-acuity events
- Clear, compassionate communication with families and multidisciplinary team members
- Comfort with required competency testing and skills checklists
