Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to laboring patients throughout labor and delivery
• Continuously monitor maternal and fetal status using electronic fetal monitoring and respond to changes promptly
• Assist with deliveries and support the clinical team during emergent and routine births
• Perform neonatal resuscitation and immediate newborn assessments as needed
• Administer medications, document care accurately in the medical record, and ensure safe handoffs
• Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesiologists, and neonatal teams to optimize outcomes
• Educate patients and families on labor progress, pain management options, postpartum care, and newborn care
• Complete required Trinity specialty competencies and maintain compliance with unit policies and checklists

Qualifications

• Current RN license (license verification required)
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP, NIHSS
• Demonstrated experience or background in Labor and Delivery (L&D)
• Completion of Trinity Skills Checklist and Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing
• Current immunizations and health requirements as listed: COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza vaccine, Varicella, 2-step PPD or IGRA, fit test, physical/health statement
• Successful completion of Trinity 10 Panel Drug Screen and color vision testing

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong fetal monitoring and intrapartum assessment skills
• Neonatal resuscitation proficiency and comfort with emergency interventions
• Skilled in medication administration, documentation, and electronic medical records
• Ability to triage, prioritize, and act decisively in high-acuity situations
• Excellent communication and patient education skills for families in labor
• Team-oriented approach and ability to collaborate across disciplines
