Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room and instrument trays for orthopedic and general surgical procedures
• Assist surgeons during procedures by anticipating needs and providing sterile instruments promptly
• Perform instrument counts and documentation to support patient safety and compliance
• Operate and troubleshoot OR equipment and ensure a sterile field is maintained
• Document perioperative care in the Meditech EMR accurately and timely
• Collaborate with nurses, anesthesia and the trauma team to deliver coordinated patient care
• Demonstrate accountability and coach/mentor colleagues when appropriate to maintain high standards

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent OR surgical technologist certification
• NBSTA and DORA certifications required — candidates without these will not be considered
• Minimum 2 years of perioperative / OR experience, with Ortho/Joint experience required
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR or similar clinical documentation systems
• Comfortable working flexible schedules including day/evening shifts and on-call
• Team player with strong accountability, excellent communication, and trauma/Level I experience preferred

Education

• Surgical Technologist certificate or diploma (CST preferred)
• High school diploma or GED required; additional OR-specific training preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Deep knowledge of perioperative procedures and sterile technique
• Experienced with orthopedic/joint case sets and instrumentation
• Ability to support everything but CVOR, Neuro and Transplants (typical case mix at this unit)
• Trauma response familiarity and Level I trauma environment awareness
• Proficiency with Meditech EMR documentation and perioperative workflows
• Strong prioritization, self-direction, and the ability to work independently in a busy OR
