Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room by assembling sterile instruments and supplies before procedures
• Assist surgeons during operations by anticipating instrument needs and maintaining a sterile field
• Perform instrument counts and document surgical procedures accurately and efficiently
• Collaborate with the perioperative team to ensure patient safety and smooth case flow
• Maintain sterile technique and adhere to infection control and safety policies
• Support efficient turnover between cases to keep the schedule on track and patients cared for

Qualifications

• Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred; completion of an accredited surgical tech program is acceptable
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or must be obtainable upon hire
• Prior experience in the operating room preferred; traveler experience a plus
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening as required by facility
• Strong communication, teamwork, and the ability to stay calm under pressure

Education

• High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Thorough knowledge of sterile technique and perioperative procedures
• Familiarity with common surgical instruments and their uses
• Ability to anticipate surgeon needs and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced OR environment
• Good documentation practices and attention to detail during counts and case notes
• Adaptability to different OR teams, procedures, and facility protocols
