Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide attentive, compassionate bedside care and build meaningful connections with patients and families
• Perform Med/Surg nursing duties including IV insertion, wound care and maintenance of surgical drains
• Manage nasogastric and chest tubes safely and according to unit protocols
• Monitor telemetry and interpret EKG trends to inform timely clinical decisions
• Prioritize and triage patient needs in a busy 20-bed Neuro Med/Surg unit with a 6:1 ratio
• Document care accurately and efficiently in Meditech to ensure continuity and quality
• Participate in bedside shift report and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members
• Float per unit policy when needed and provide reliable coverage across the facility

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience
• Strong skills in IV insertion, basic wound care and surgical drain maintenance
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and familiarity with Meditech documentation
• Ability to prioritize care, multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment

Knowledge & Skills

• Med/Surg clinical expertise with neuro patient experience a plus
• Telemetry monitoring and EKG interpretation
• Proficient in IV pumps, feeding pumps and PCA management
• Comfortable using bladder scanners and continuous pulse oximetry
• Familiarity with Meditech electronic documentation
• Excellent patient prioritization, multitasking and communication skills
• Competent with nasogastric, chest tube and surgical drain care
