Roles & Responsibilities
- Decontaminate surgical instruments and equipment thoroughly to keep patients safe
- Perform sterilization cycles and verify sterility using established protocols
- Assemble instrument sets and trays accurately for a wide range of procedures
- Execute high level disinfection (HLD) on appropriate instruments and equipment
- Operate and monitor Steris, V-Pro, and Medivator systems with attention to detail
- Document processes and chart in EPIC as required by unit standards
- Collaborate with OR and trauma teams to ensure timely instrument availability
Qualifications
- CRCST or CBSPD certification required (one of the two must be held)
- BLS (AHA) certification required
- Minimum 2 years of sterile processing experience
- Familiarity with OR/trauma settings is a plus
- Able to attend orientation week in-state (first week includes 1-2 preceptor shifts)
- Valid driver's license submitted within 60-mile radius as requested
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Certification: CRCST or CBSPD required
Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise in decontamination, sterilization, and assembly workflows
- Proficient with Steris sterilizers, V-Pro systems, and Medivator HLD equipment
- Experience with EPIC charting and documentation
- Strong attention to detail and infection control practices
- Comfort working nights in an acute care setting and supporting trauma cases
- Ability to follow hospital scrub/dress code and unit-specific procedures
