Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor cardiac telemetry and interpret rhythm changes to keep patients safe
• Deliver focused post-open heart care, including titration and management of cardiac drips
• Provide skilled bedside assessments and intervene quickly when the clinical picture changes
• Collaborate with surgical cardiology teams, physicians, and allied staff to coordinate patient care
• Document care accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record
• Participate in unit competency testing and skills checklists to maintain excellence

Qualifications

• Active RN license with verification required (state license/certificate verification)
• BLS and ACLS certifications (both required)
• Experience caring for post-open heart patients and managing cardiac drips preferred
• Successful completion of Trinity specialty competency testing and skills checklist
• Ability to pass required health screenings: fit test, immunizations, 10-panel drug screen, and related occupational health requirements

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and arrhythmia recognition
• Post-operative cardiac nursing and surgical cardiology familiarity
• Managing and titrating cardiac vasoactive drips and IV infusions
• Strong clinical assessment, prioritization, and critical thinking
• Proficient documentation and communication with multidisciplinary teams
• Comfortable with specialty-specific competency protocols and checklist-driven care
