Shift Type: Rotating shifts including days and nights (self-scheduling/cyclic schedule): 8-hour (06:30 AM - 03:00 PM) and 12-hour (06:30 AM - 07:00 PM; 06:30 PM - 07:00 AM) options. Schedule varies by department need and may include weekdays, weekends, holiday rotations, and on-call responsibilities (weekly 1-4 hour call; weekend call ~every 5 weeks).

Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver expert perioperative nursing care across a full range of surgical specialties, including Level I trauma cases
• Prepare and maintain sterile field and OR environment using best-practice infection control
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiology, and OR techs to ensure safe, efficient procedures
• Provide skilled care for pediatric patients in emergency situations and adults of all acuities
• Operate and support advanced surgical technologies such as DaVinci robots, O-arm, and endoscopic equipment
• Document patient care accurately using EPIC and communicate handoffs clearly to the interdisciplinary team
• Participate in call rotations and respond to urgent surgical needs with calm, decisive action

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to work in Nebraska) and current BLS required at time of submittal
• Current ACLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience with demonstrated perioperative/OR experience
• MUST have Level 1 trauma experience and demonstrated competency across service lines
• Experience charting in EPIC preferred/required
• Driver's license required at time of submission (used to confirm radius rule)
• Ability to successfully complete orientation pass/fail exam (90% required) and adhere to facility policies (e.g., no artificial nails)

Education

• Valid RN licensure required
• Associate degree or BSN acceptable (BSN not required per posting)
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing skills for general, laparoscopic, GYN, GU, ortho, neuro, plastics, ENT, thoracic, endoscopy, and pediatric emergency cases
• Trauma care expertise appropriate for a Level 1 trauma center
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical record
• Familiarity with robotic-assisted surgery and specialized OR equipment
• Strong sterile technique, surgical counts, and intraoperative safety practices
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and ability to function in high-acuity situations
