Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care to critically ill adult and pediatric patients in ICU settings
• Manage mechanical ventilators, perform ventilator checks and titrate support based on patient needs
• Obtain and interpret arterial blood gases and implement appropriate interventions
• Accurately document assessments and interventions in Epic to maintain clear, timely patient records
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians and the interdisciplinary team to develop and execute patient care plans
• Float between like units as needed to support staffing and maintain safe patient ratios
• Work nights, weekends and observed holidays as scheduled and adhere to facility call-off/makeup policies
• Contribute to a teaching hospital environment by supporting learners and participating in unit education

Qualifications

• Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
• Active state respiratory therapy license (pending licenses are not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience (ICU/critical care and pediatric experience preferred)
• Comfortable and experienced working with both adult and pediatric ICU populations
• Experience with Epic charting or similar electronic medical record systems
• Willingness to work nights, every-other-weekend rotations, and float between like units
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions allowed); COVID-19 vaccine not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong ventilator management and troubleshooting skills
• Proficiency in ABG interpretation and respiratory assessment
• Familiarity with ICU-level monitoring, airway management and emergency respiratory procedures
• Comfort with pediatric respiratory care in addition to adult ICU practice
• Solid Epic documentation skills and timely charting habits
• Ability to adapt to night-shift workflows and collaborate across interdisciplinary teams
• Good communication, critical thinking and patient/family-centered care approach
