Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide safe, patient-centered perioperative nursing care in the operating room
- Prepare and maintain the sterile field and ensure surgical instruments and supplies are ready
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative staff to coordinate care
- Monitor patients intraoperatively and respond promptly to physiologic changes
- Perform and verify instrument and sponge counts and maintain accurate documentation
- Complete required competency assessments and skills checklists to maintain clinical excellence
- Adhere to infection prevention protocols and champion patient safety practices
Qualifications
- Current RN license with verification for practice in Oregon (license/certificate verification required)
- BLS certification required
- Completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist required
- Ability to pass fit test, Trinity 10-panel drug screen, color vision check, and required immunizations (COVID-19, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza, Varicella, 2-step PPD or IGRA)
- Physical/health statement required prior to start
- Operating room experience preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Perioperative nursing principles and strict sterile technique
- Familiarity with surgical instrumentation and case setup
- Patient monitoring and intraoperative assessment skills
- Strong communication and teamwork in fast-paced environments
- Attention to detail for counts, documentation, and safety checks
- Ability to follow facility-specific protocols and adapt to different OR workflows
