Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts, 11:00 AM - 11:00 PM, 3 shifts per week; includes some weekends (full-time coverage)

Roles & Responsibilities

Triage patients rapidly and accurately, prioritizing care based on physical and psychosocial needs
Provide direct and indirect patient care in the Emergency Department with initiative and professional judgement
Monitor and communicate changes in patient status to ER physicians and mid-level providers promptly
Respond quickly to changes in condition or treatment response and adjust care plans accordingly
Coordinate patient flow and collaborate with registration, techs, allied health staff, and leadership
Provide direction to ED techs and registration staff to ensure efficient, compassionate patient care
Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes clearly and maintain compliance with hospital policies

Qualifications

Current MT State RN license (required)
Degree from an accredited nursing program (required); Bachelor of Nursing/BSN preferred
Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room experience required
BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire
Strong communication skills and ability to work cooperatively with physicians, mid-level providers, patients, and families

Education

Degree from an accredited nursing program (required)
Bachelor of Nursing / BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Emergency Department nursing principles and triage practices
Patient assessment and clinical decision-making
IV skills and medication administration
Operation of manual and electronic medical equipment
Basic computer and office skills for documentation and communication
Ability to give direction to team members and collaborate across disciplines
Compassionate patient-centered care with attention to flow and throughput
