Roles & Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients in an acute care hospital setting to determine functional status and needs
• Develop individualized care plans that target mobility, strength, and functional recovery
• Deliver therapeutic procedures and techniques to help patients regain independence
• Safely use and instruct others on patient lifting equipment (SARA+, Stedy, Maximove) and assistive devices
• Document assessments, plans and progress clearly and promptly in Cerner PowerChart
• Supervise and coordinate therapeutic care with PTAs, OTs, rehab techs and the interdisciplinary team
• Communicate evaluation results and progress with patients, families and appropriate staff to promote shared goals

Qualifications

• Current North Carolina license to practice Physical Therapy (required)
• Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy (BSPT) or equivalent degree
• BLS certification (required)
• Approximately 2 years of clinical experience (as listed); acute care experience preferred (job prefers at least 1 year acute care)
• Experience with orthopedics, neurology and cardiopulmonary patient populations is helpful
• Comfort supervising/coordining care and working in a fast-paced acute care environment

Education

• BS in Physical Therapy

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in patient evaluation and care plan development
• Proficient with therapeutic procedures and techniques to improve function
• Experienced documenting in Cerner PowerChart
• Competent using patient lifting equipment and safe transfer techniques
• Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
• Ability to manage 1:1 patient ratios and adapt to unit-based assignment workflow
