Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert critical care nursing for ICU patients, including post-CABG and ventilated patients
• Monitor and interpret hemodynamic data to support timely clinical decisions
• Perform and document thorough bedside assessments and shift reports
• Collaborate with intensivists, respiratory therapists and the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
• Respond rapidly to emergencies and provide high-quality CPR and advanced life support as needed
• Mentor and support unit colleagues, contributing to a culture of safety and continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license required (temporary licenses are NOT accepted)
• BLS and ACLS certification required; current CPR certification
• 2+ years of recent ICU experience (unit cares for high-acuity patients including ECMO and heart transplant/CABG cases)
• Comfort with ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, and post-CABG care
• Prior CVICU or high-acuity ICU experience preferred
• Meditech documentation experience preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing and ICU protocols
• Hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation
• Mechanical ventilation management
• Post-operative cardiac care (CABG, transplant support)
• ACLS/BLS and emergency response
• Experience with Meditech electronic documentation
• Familiarity with ECMO and CVICU workflows (preferred)
