Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality progressive care nursing for telemetry and step-down patients, ensuring safety and excellent outcomes
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and bedside telemetry, responding quickly to changes in patient status
• Perform thorough patient assessments and implement individualized care plans
• Document accurately and efficiently in Cerner EMR to maintain continuity of care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams—charge nurses, RNs, CNAs, and physicians—to coordinate patient care
• Support unit flow by managing quick turnarounds and helping with short-stay patients while maintaining excellent patient experience

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (permitting practice in North Carolina or applicable compact licensure)
• BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• Minimum 2+ years of progressive care / telemetry nursing experience
• Demonstrated telemetry competency and progressive care (PCU) experience
• Comfortable floating to other units and working a fast-paced, mixed-level care inpatient unit
• Experience with Cerner EMR or similar electronic charting systems
• Positive, compassionate approach with strong teamwork and communication skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Progressive care clinical assessments and interventions
• Use of bedside monitors and telemetry hardwiring procedures
• Thorough documentation in Cerner EMR
• Patient ratio awareness and acuity-based prioritization
• Strong communication, teamwork, and patient-centered bedside manner
