Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based oncology nursing care to adult patients on the K9A Oncology/Women’s Surgical unit
• Administer medications safely and monitor for effects and adverse reactions
• Perform thorough patient assessments and document changes in condition using Cerner EMR
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Carry out unit procedures as needed (occasional pelvic exams, echo, thoracentesis) with attention to patient comfort and safety
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, medication administration, and follow-up care
• Maintain professional standards, adhere to hospital policies, and contribute to a positive unit culture

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (oncology experience preferred)
• Familiarity with Cerner or similar EMR systems
• Chemo certification preferred but not required
• Team-player attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work nights and scheduled weekends

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology nursing principles and medication administration
• Patient assessment and critical thinking for acuity 1:4 to 1:5 ratios
• Experience with Cerner EMR documentation
• Comfort with occasional procedures (pelvic exams, echo, thoracentesis)
• Strong communication, teamwork, and patient education skills
• Ability to work independently on night shift while collaborating with unit staff
