Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate total patient care using the nursing process
• Provide high-quality emergency department care including triage and rapid patient assessment
• Direct and guide patient and family teaching to support informed decisions
• Coordinate and supervise ancillary staff and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
• Maintain professional nursing standards and ensure patient safety during high-acuity events
• Document care accurately and ensure timely communication with providers and team members

Qualifications

• Current Iowa RN license (required)
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• BCLS/BLS and ACLS required; PALS and TNCC required or strongly preferred per site requirements
• Experience in emergency nursing preferred but not required
• Completion of required immunizations, negative drug screen and respiratory fit test prior to start
• Criminal background checks, licensure verifications and required state mandatory reporter certificates

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency nursing and trauma care principles
• Strong patient assessment and triage skills
• Proficient with the nursing process for acute care settings
• Ability to manage critical situations and prioritize care
• Familiarity with ACLS, PALS and TNCC protocols
• Effective communication and team coordination in fast-paced environments
• Comfort with 12-hour night shift rhythms and continuity of care
