Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert bedside ICU nursing care for critically ill adults, including ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring
• Manage post-CABG and other cardiac surgical patients with attention to detail and safety
• Perform and document thorough bedside shift report and updates to the unit whiteboard
• Respond rapidly to changes in patient condition and collaborate with intensivists and interdisciplinary team members
• Support advanced therapies on a high-acuity unit including ECMO and transplant-related care when applicable
• Adhere to unit policies and magnet-level standards to deliver exceptional patient experience

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license required (temporary licenses will not be accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required; 2+ years preferred
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• Experience with ventilated patients, hemodynamic monitoring, and post-CABG care
• Preferred: CVICU/heart transplant or ECMO experience and familiarity with Meditech
• Strong bedside communication skills and commitment to bedside shift report

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing and ICU workflows
• Ventilator management and troubleshooting
• Hemodynamic monitoring and vasoactive medication titration
• Post-operative cardiac care (post-CABG, cardiac surgery monitoring)
• CPR and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS)
• Experience with Meditech electronic documentation preferred
• Comfort working in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment (ECMO, transplant cases)
