Roles & Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate surgical services to ensure safe, efficient patient care across the perioperative continuum.
Supervise and mentor nursing and support staff, delegating duties and maintaining high standards of operations.
Respond calmly and decisively during emergencies, implementing immediate actions and long-term solutions.
Identify workflow bottlenecks in the surgical department and drive process improvements for better patient outcomes.
Collaborate with physicians, ancillary departments, and peers to maintain excellent patient and team communication.
Oversee patient care practices, ensuring adherence to policies, infection control, and safety protocols.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing — required
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent — required
Minimum of 5 years RN experience, including at least 2 years as a circulating RN in surgery — required
Current California RN license — required
Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications — required
CNOR certification — preferred
One year post-anesthesia care experience — preferred
Previous leadership, supervisory, or management experience — preferred
Strong written and oral English skills — required

Education

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

Expertise in surgical services management and perioperative workflows
Strong patient care and emergency response skills; maintains composure under pressure
Excellent delegation, supervision, and team-building abilities
Clear communicator with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
Familiarity with post-anesthesia care and circulating RN responsibilities
Ability to evaluate department-level problems and implement both short- and long-term solutions
