Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive echocardiographic studies including transthoracic, transesophageal, M-Mode and color-flow Doppler to provide high-quality diagnostic imaging
• Conduct exercise stress and pharmacological echocardiography, ensuring accurate capture and documentation of results
• Perform additional cardiac diagnostics such as EKGs, Holter prep/monitoring/analysis and cardiac stress testing with care and precision
• Operate and maintain echocardiographs, cardiac stress systems, electrocardiographs and Holter monitors to ensure reliable diagnostic information
• Assess hospital information systems for proper scheduling, processing and charging of studies to maintain workflow accuracy
• Implement infection control and aseptic techniques consistently to protect patients and staff
• Provide preceptorship and clinical guidance to students from affiliated colleges and universities

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) required
• Successful completion of an echocardiography certification program and/or at least 2 years hands-on echocardiography experience
• Preferred: Cardiovascular Sonography certificate or completion of an accredited certificate program
• Preferred: Extensive hospital-based experience and strong background in pediatric and neonatal echocardiography

Education

• High School Diploma or GED (required)
• Certificate in Cardiovascular Sonography or completion of an accredited echocardiography program (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, M-Mode and color Doppler techniques
• Skilled with exercise stress and pharmacological echo protocols
• Experienced with EKG interpretation, Holter monitoring and cardiac stress testing workflows
• Comfortable operating diagnostic equipment and performing routine maintenance and disinfection
• Familiarity with infection control standards and aseptic technique
• Ability to work with scheduling and billing systems and ensure accurate charge capture
• Strong patient care skills across all ages, including neonatal and pediatric populations
• Experience providing clinical instruction and preceptorship to students
