Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for imaging exams and explain procedures clearly and compassionately
• Perform diagnostic radiographic procedures using CR, DR and fluoroscopy equipment
• Operate portable radiography units across ED, OR, PACU and inpatient areas safely and efficiently
• Position patients correctly and select appropriate techniques to capture diagnostic images
• Transfer and manage images in PACS, prioritize studies (STAT/URGENT) and document thoroughly
• Prepare and administer IV and oral contrast media and respond to contrast reactions per protocol
• Assist radiologists and fluoro techs during special procedures and maintain sterile technique as required
• Troubleshoot basic equipment issues, perform routine start-up/shut-down and alert clinical engineering when needed
• Maintain radiation safety practices consistent with ALARA and ensure patient/staff protection
• Perform clerical duties related to image release, CD burning and workflow management

Qualifications

• Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiology
• Completion of an ARRT-approved Radiologic Technology training program
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current BLS certification that meets American Heart Association Healthcare Provider standards
• One year of radiology experience in a hospital, clinic or physician's office preferred
• Comfort with PACS, CR/DR/Fluoro equipment and portable radiography
• Ability to communicate clearly with patients, families and clinical teams
• Demonstrated attention to radiation safety and sterile technique where applicable

Education

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a specialized training program in Radiological Technology (ARRT-approved)

Knowledge & Skills

• Medical terminology, anatomy and physiology knowledge
• Proficiency with PACS and image transfer workflows
• Skill in patient positioning and selection of imaging techniques
• Experience operating Computed Radiography (CR), Digital Radiography (DR) and Fluoroscopy systems
• Competence in preparing and administering contrast media and documenting reactions
• Understanding and application of radiation safety principles (ALARA)
• Equipment troubleshooting and basic maintenance awareness
• Customer-service mindset for positive patient interactions
