Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide clinical education and training to long-term care staff across Sitka and Wrangell
• Design, select, and implement curriculum and training programs aligned with accreditation and policy standards
• Standardize and streamline the consortium's clinical competency program
• Partner with clinical leaders to develop training that improves patient care and supports staff growth and retention
• Support preceptorships and coordinate student clinical experiences with UAA/UAS
• Use evidence-based research to improve professional development activities and nursing practice
• Serve as a collaborative member of the Clinical Nursing Education team and contribute to consortium-wide projects
• Evaluate educational activities and ensure competency completion and policy compliance

Qualifications

• BSN from an accredited school of Nursing required
• Current, active Registered Nurse license (Alaska preferred; direct hires must have applied for Alaska license before start date)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; BLS Instructor certification preferred or must be obtained within 1 year of hire
• Clinical Competency Assessment required within 3 months of hire and maintained per policy
• Minimum 2 years of clinical instructor/educator experience (up to 1 year may be replaced with supervisory experience)
• Minimum 5 years of professional nursing experience, including at least 2 years in long-term care
• Supervisory experience preferred

Education

• BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) from an accredited school of Nursing

Knowledge & Skills

• Adult and geriatric patient care expertise
• Clinical competency assessment and curriculum development
• Evidence-based practice and quality improvement
• Strong oral and written communication and teaching skills
• Familiarity with education delivery tools: Microsoft Teams, Workday, Canva, Articulate, Smartsheet, SharePoint, PowerPoint
• Ability to develop training programs that meet policy and accreditation standards
• Collaborative leadership and ability to foster positive training environments
• Comfort with required travel by jet, small aircraft, and ferry (approximately 30%)
