Bill Rate: $25,000 sign-on; $10,000 relocation

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide professional nursing care to patients of all ages in the Emergency Department using independent clinical judgment
- Perform comprehensive assessments, develop and implement individualized nursing care plans, and document findings accurately
- Administer medications and therapeutics safely and in an age-appropriate manner
- Respond calmly and effectively in emergent situations, including airway management and cardiac monitoring
- Delegate and supervise CNA/Tech staff and provide leadership during shifts
- Coordinate patient care activities with physicians and interdisciplinary team members
- Teach patients and families about diagnoses, procedures, and discharge plans to promote optimal recovery
- Participate in unit meetings, in-services, and quality improvement activities to enhance care standards
Qualifications
- Current full, unrestricted Registered Nursing license in Alaska or another U.S. state required (direct hire must have applied for Alaska license before start; agency staff must have active Alaska license)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required at hire
- TNCC required for Emergency Department nurses
- ACLS and PALS must be obtained within 6 months of hire
- Clinical Competency required within 3 months of hire and every three years
- High Risk Competency required within 3 months of hire and annually
- High school diploma or equivalent required; prior specialty ED experience preferred
- One year of clinical nursing experience preferred
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs and perform physical aspects of ED nursing
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Current Registered Nursing license required
Knowledge & Skills
- Nursing assessment and nursing process with strong documentation skills
- Medication administration and knowledge of pharmaceuticals used in acute care
- Emergency response skills including airway management, intubation support, and defibrillator use
- Cardiac monitoring and recognition of emergent cardiac conditions
- Procedural familiarity: arterial line setup, chest tube setup, ABG puncture, thoracentesis, ventilator/respiratory support
- Patient and family education with strong verbal and written communication
- Leadership, delegation, and ability to orient and support new staff and travelers
- Adaptability, sound clinical judgment, and teamwork in fast-paced environments
